Staff Spotlight: Bill Reid

Most of our regular patients have become pretty familiar with the sea of female faces around Coleman Eye Center. However, until it’s your time for cataract surgery, there is one special person around the office that you may not get to see. Still, ask anyone here and they’ll tell you what a joy and privilege it is to know and work with Bill Reid. It is an honor to share his spotlight with all of you, and we hope you enjoy!

How long have you worked at Coleman Eye Center?

I have worked at Coleman Eye Center for 21 years.

What is your position?

Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA)

Favorite thing about CEC?

My coworkers….aka my 40 daughters 🙂 :), my bosses, Dr. Lee and Dr. Michael Coleman, and my wonderful, humble patients.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

Yard work!

Share about your family.

We have a blended family–two daughters and two sons. I have the most wonderful wife a husband could have. My wife is very sick with a progressive muscular disease and it is my honor to take care of her.

Fairhope, AL

What’s the first concert you ever attended?

Jerry Lee Lewis–at the age of 13! And I went by myself if you can believe it!!

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Any meal by my sweet mother, who is now in heaven.

Before I decided on a career in the medical field, I was a political scientist and was a research assistant for the Research Journal of Politics

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Listen to the wisdom of your parents and older adults. Read Psalms and Proverbs every day. Follow your dreams–you are only young once. Billy Graham was once quoted as saying, “The most surprising thing about life was the brevity of life.”

What do coworkers love about Bill?

“Finding something good to say about Bill is just too easy. I love working with him. He is so kind and caring to everyone. When it comes to his patients, he is always friendly and understanding. There are so many things that could be said about him. He’s just good at what he does and he is a joy to be around.”

“I could go on and on about how great he is! He is the kindest and most thoughtful person you will ever meet! He has the best bedside manner. He loves his patients and his patients love him. We are so thankful to have him in the surgery center!”

“Oh goodness you just can’t say enough good things about Bill! He is the nicest man! He is so good with his patients and walks them through every step he makes, helping to ease nervousness. He is seriously the best ever.”

“Bill is always happy. He’s always friendly. He is always kind and compassionate to his patients. He is a big Alabama fan and loves to talk about football!”
